PIA plane crash: Decision to pay Rs 1 million each to the families of the deceased

The government has decided to pay Rs 1 million each to the families of those killed in the PIA plane crash and the insurance money will be given to the families within a week.

 Talking to media, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail said that a committee has been set up to investigate the plane crash and if anyone is found involved, he will be severely punished.

 He said that the investigation committee would submit the report of the plane crash to the Prime Minister.  He said that the affected people could stay in Qasr-e-Naz till the construction of houses, while PIA hotels have also been vacated for the victims.

 It may be recalled that a passenger plane of the national airline PIA had crashed in a residential area of ​​Model Colony shortly before landing in Karachi, as a result of which 97 people including the crew of the plane were killed.

 According to the Civil Aviation Authority, PIA flight PK8303 had reached Karachi from Lahore.  Prior to the crash, the captain of the plane called air traffic control on May Day and said the plane's engines had broken down.  "We're taking a left turn," the captain told the ATC.  The plane crashed after a May Day call.

 The government of Pakistan has formed a four-member committee to investigate the incident.  The committee is headed by Air Commodore Usman Ghani while other members include Wing Commander Malik Imran, Group Captain Tauqeer and Joint Director ATC.
